Jungni-dong Gopchang Alley
Introduction to Jungni-dong Gopchang Alley
Jungni-dong Gopchang Alley is an alley full of delicious restaurants, another joy of traveling in Daegu.
Anjirang Gopchang Alley in Nam-gu, Daegu and Jungni-dong Gopchang Alley are representative alleys for tripe cuisine, one of Daegu's representative foods.
The difference between the two alleys is that in Anjirang Gopchang Alley, many places serve pork makchang (pork makchang), which is mainly grilled, while in Jungni-dong gopchang alley, there are many places that serve somakchang (smakchang) as a hotpot.
In the 1980s, when the slaughterhouse in Seongdangmot moved to Jungni-dong, butcher shops and meat restaurants naturally opened up, and the Pochangmacha Alley, which sells by-products from the slaughterhouse such as tripe, liver, and cheonyeop, is the origin of the current Gopchang Alley in Jungni-dong.
Afterwards, the slaughterhouse was moved to Geomdan-dong and outlets were built in its place, and most meat restaurants left this alley, but the tripe restaurants remained and have maintained their reputation to this day.
In particular, here in Daegu, you can taste beef tripe, makchang, and geunsi, and since there is an outlet right next door, people come here for shopping to try tripe.
Another attraction of Jungni-dong Gopchang Alley is seeing the trees and flowers of Queen's Road Square and Greenway, a famous clothing and fashion street, a 5-minute walk away.
