Introduction to Daegu Duryu Park

Duryu Park is located in Dalseo-gu, the center of Daegu Metropolitan City, and is the largest park in Daegu.
In 1977, Daegu City created a park of about 500,000 pyeong here, and since then, many cultural sports and entertainment facilities have been built.
It is centered on Duryusan Mountain and Geumbongsan Mountain, and the 8-lane Duryu Park Road passes through the middle of the park, dividing it into Duryusan Mountain and Geumbongsan Mountain areas.
The Geumbongsan area is home to cultural facilities such as a large outdoor music hall, culture and arts center, and library, as well as sports facilities such as a baseball field, tennis court, and swimming pool. Various commemorative facilities such as the February 28 Memorial Tower and the People's Hill can also be seen here.
In the Duryusan area, E-World operates various amusement facilities.
83 Tower, located at the top of Duryusan Mountain, is a landmark of Daegu, and the 200m high observatory offers a panoramic view of downtown Daegu.
Various recreational facilities, including the 83 Tower, are privately operated, but anyone can take a walk along the trail without an admission fee.
Since the Duryusan area has many paid facilities, it is the Geumbongsan area that fulfills the role of a park.
Duryu Station on Subway Line 2 is only about 500 meters away from the northern entrance, and when accessed from Seobu Bus Stop Station on Subway Line 1, it is about 600 meters away from Seongdangmot at the southwest end of the park, making it very accessible.
As you explore the trails within the park, you can enjoy structures such as the 2.28 Memorial Tower, Incheon Hill, and the Daegu Student Independence Movement Monument, as well as nature-friendly facilities such as the outdoor music hall, the cathedral pond waterside path, and the fountain.
Depending on the season, a cherry blossom festival is held in the spring, in the summer, the park's swimming pool and fountains are used to cool off from the heat, in the fall, it is a famous spot for fall foliage, and in the winter, you can have a fun winter at the skating rink in the park.

Introduction to Geumyongsa Temple (Daegu)

It is said that in the mid-Goryeo period, a wealthy person built a temple on Geumbongsan Mountain (Duryusan Mountain) as a temple for his family and called it Geumbongsa Temple.
In 1926 (the year of Byeong-in), Bodhisattva Kim Song-dong built Daeungjeon and Yosa 2-dong on the site of the current Duryu indoor swimming pool annex.
During the National Sports Festival held in Daegu in 1986, the site of Geumyongsa Temple was incorporated as an indoor swimming pool, and it was moved to its current location and rebuilt.
The reason the temple was named Geumyongsa was to take into account the Feng Shui legend that the phoenix of Geumbongsan Mountain was transformed into a dragon due to a natural disaster in the past. The letter Geum (金) is taken from the old Geumbong Temple, and the letter Yong (龍) is taken from the Feng Shui tale of a natural disaster. .
The current Geumyongsa Temple is a subsidiary temple of Donghwasa Temple, the headquarters of the 9th Diocese of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and is located in Duryu Park in Seongdang-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu.
This temple, located at the foot of the mountain right behind Duryu Swimming Pool, is a nun temple and has a history of approximately 100 years.
The use of the temple along with the various facilities of Duryu Park can also be said to be an advantage of this temple.
