Numerous mountains spread out, including the highest peak, Yeonsan Mountain (459.4m). Along the coastline, starting with the surrounding white sand beach connecting Nuulcha and Dongseon to the northeast, the scenery of the beach in front of the prayer center, and the wide gravel field of Daehang Saebaji and Yongduam to the southeast. As one of the manned lighthouses built in the late Joseon Dynasty, it began lighting in December 1909, and was designated as a Busan Metropolitan City Tangible Cultural Heritage on September 16, 2003.
It has a Gothic style, which is why it is similar to the French light tower style. The entrance has a protruding, sloping entrance made of wood to match the width of the entrance stairs, and the upper signboard has a plum blossom pattern, a symbol of the Joseon imperial family, engraved on it. The structure is a mixture of Korean, Japanese, and European architectural styles.
It is a cultural asset with outstanding historical and architectural value because it is one of the first buildings to use modern Western architectural styles and materials, and it preserves much of its original form compared to other lighthouses.

Mangsando, Yujuam, Yujubigak

Introduction to Mangsando, Yujuam, and Yujubigak

The small island off the coast of Yongwon-dong is called Mangsando, and the rocky island 70 meters southeast of this island is called Yujuam.
The monument located about 1km away from the two places is the Yuju Monument, which is related to the legend of Queen Heo, Queen Kim Suro of Gaya during the Three Kingdoms period, and was designated as a Gyeongsangnam-do monument in 1988.
Yuju Monument is a wooden tile-roofed house with one room on the front and one side, without a stylobate, with a pillar stone placed on top, and overall, it is a typical monument shape with the upper part of the wall decorated with red paint.
According to legend, when King Suro was asked to take a queen, the king replied that his queen would be chosen by heaven. One day, a ship with red sails and a red flag appeared in the southwest sea.
After that, the ship was guided, and the ship finally reached Mangsan Island, and Empress Heo and her party landed on the ship.
The king personally went out to greet the queen dowager, and that night the queen dowager said, One day, in a dream, Sangje Hwangcheon said to him, “King Suro of the Garak kingdom has not been able to decide on a person or a spouse sent down by heaven, so go and mate.” So he ran. He said he had come.
So the king took her as his queen, married her, and lived for over 150 years.
According to another legend, Mangsando is where Empress Dowager Heo first got off the boat, and the stone boat she came on capsized in the sea and became Yujuam Rock.
On the other hand, there is a theory that it is called Mangsando because King Suro personally came to meet him and waited on this island, looking out to sea far away.

Introduction to Oeyangpo Fortification Site

Oeyangpo is a port located at the southern end of Gadeokdo Island, Gangseo-gu, Busan.
The Japanese army, which started the Russo-Japanese War in February 1904, set Oeyangpo as a military base to secure a military base in the Korean Strait area and forcibly evicted private house No. 64.
Afterwards, the Japanese military dispatched the 3rd Temporary Construction Group to build a naval base here, completed the construction, and deployed the 2nd Company of the Jinhae Bay Fortress Artillery Battalion. Soon after, the Artillery Battalion Headquarters was moved and the troops were reinforced and the external artillery batteries were deployed. It became a military base to prepare for a naval battle with the Russian fleet.
In Oeyangpo Village, there remain many Japanese-style buildings that are believed to be military facilities, such as the battery command center, official residence, offices, barracks, and warehouses, and are still used for residential purposes by residents.

Introduction to Gadeokdo Island Yeondeobong Peak

It is the highest point located on Gadeokdo Island, a name given to it because of the abundance of deodeok from ancient times.
Gadeokdo Island is the largest of the islands in Busan and is believed to have been inhabited since the Neolithic Age. It is an island that witnessed Korea's painful history from the Japanese invasions of Korea to the Japanese colonial period.

Yeondaebong is a mountain that is 459 meters above sea level and can be reached in 2 to 3 hours. It is not that high, so it is not difficult to climb, but once you reach the top, you can experience the feeling and view of a high mountain.
The gentle slope of the mountain makes it suitable for a light hike with families, and if you climb close to the top, you can see the sea of Gadeokdo Island and Geoga Bridge at a glance.

At the top of Yeondaebong Peak, you can see the beacon fire tower where the first Japanese pirates were discovered and a fire was lit during the Japanese invasions of Korea.

It is a place where you can feel the mountains and the sea at the same time.

Daejeon Observatory

Introduction to Daejeon Observatory

Daejeon Observatory is located on the way from Cheonseong to Daehang Village on Gadeokdo Island, Gangseo-gu, Busan.
A monument to the song “My hometown is Gadeokdo” by composer Ki-nam Nam and a monument to the poem “Sunset seen from Daehang Observatory” by Sang-ho Park stand.
‘When the fog envelopes the Yeondaebong mountainside, even the lamplight blinks shyly and smiles, and the camellia flowers are beautiful, and my hometown is Gadeokdo... The lyrics, 'When a school of mullets dance in the sea off Daehangpo, the excited fishermen are busy', the dreams and hopes for the open sea are in harmony, and the rush of mullets and the love song of the reed forest also go together.
The charm of Daejeon Observatory can be felt in the poem, ‘O traveler, have you ever seen a feast of temptation so enchanting?’
As if representing the recent interest of Busan citizens in the new Gadeokdo International Airport, a photo zone with an airplane model floating on the sea and red camellia flowers in the background says, “It was a good thing you came to Gadeokdo Island.”
