Introduction to Hoamsanseong Fortress

Located on Gwanaksan Mountain, it is a castle from the Silla period of the Three Kingdoms period and can be visited in conjunction with cultural assets such as Hanwoomul and stone statues as well as the traditional temple Hoapsa Temple, which is one of the Gwanaksan Mountain trail courses.
Hoamsanseong Fortress is a Temoe-style fortress from the Unified Silla period surrounding the ridge, with a circumference of 1,250m, of which traces of the fortress remain in about 300m.
Hanumul is a 22m long and 12m wide pond located at the top of Hoamsan Mountain. It is surrounded by granite and is nicknamed Yongbo (龍洑).
In times of drought, prayers for rain were held, and in times of war, preparations were made for military use.
The exact time when this pond-shaped well was created is unknown, but during excavation for repairs, it was confirmed that a pond created during the Three Kingdoms period was buried beneath the current pond, and that a pond that was built in a misaligned manner on top of it was created again in the early Joseon Dynasty. lost.
The Joseon Dynasty stone site at Hanumul is 22m east-west, 12m north-south, and 1.2m deep, and the stone deposits of the Unified Silla Dynasty beneath it have also been confirmed.
In another well, a bronze spoon with the inscription ‘Ingbeolnaeryeokjinaemi (仍伐內力只內未)’ was found.
A dog-shaped animal statue (stone statue, 1.7m long, 0.9m wide, 1.0m high) was discovered near the well, which appears to be related to the story that it was built to prevent fires in Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty.
A stone engraved with the name Seokguji (石拘池) was discovered near Hanumul. It appears that this pond was probably called Seokguji in connection with the stone statue.
