Introduction to Gyeyangsan Mountain

At 395m above sea level, Gyeyangsan Mountain is the highest mountain in Incheon Metropolitan City excluding Ganghwado Island.
It is said that the name Gyeyangsan Mountain arose because cassia trees and boxwood trees grew naturally on the mountain.
It is suitable for a half-day hike in the metropolitan area and is easy to climb even for beginner hikers, so many hikers visit it.
Another advantage is that it is close to Gyesan Station on Incheon Subway Line 1 and the entrance to the hiking trail, making it easy to access by public transportation.
There are a total of 9 hiking trails, ranging from as short as 50 minutes to as long as 2 hours.
People often start hiking at Yeonmujeong, climb to the top of the mountain via Palgakjeong, and then descend along the ridge leading to the south.
However, since there is no shade on the main ridge hiking trail, it is better suited for hiking in spring and fall rather than summer.
Even the disabled and the elderly can easily climb the mountain by using the Gyeyangsan barrier-free trail that connects Imhak Park and Gyeyangsanseong Fortress.
Gyeyangsan Mountain is also a mountain where you can hike and explore history at the same time.
There are a variety of interesting things to see, including Gyeyangsanseong Fortress, which was built during the Three Kingdoms Period and used until the Joseon Dynasty, Jaodang Site and Chojeongji Pond, where Goryeo Dynasty scholar Lee Gyu-bo stayed, Bongwolsa Temple Site, and Bonghwadae Historic Site.
When you climb to the top of the mountain, you can see a panoramic view of Seoul, including Gimpo Airport to the east, and surrounding islands such as Yeongjong Island and Ganghwa Island to the west.
