However, Sunghyeon Seowonji was closed in 1871 (the 8th year of King Gojong's reign) due to Heungseon Daewongun's order to abolish seowons, and has not been restored since.
Only a monument erected in 1667 (the 8th year of King Hyeonjong's reign) remained, but Daejeon Metropolitan City designated it as a Daejeon Metropolitan City monument in 1992 so that more citizens could see and learn about such historical and educationally valuable relics, and restoration began in 1994 to create a shrine, You can now see the old appearance of Sunghyeon Seowonji, which is fully equipped with an auditorium, east hall, and study hall.

As we enter Jagwangsa Temple, we see a 300-year-old juniper tree that was planted by Uam Song Si-yeol when he built his school on this site, thinking that it would be a good place to raise great talent for the country if he built a school and educated younger students. Welcome.
To the left stands the monument to the temple shrine.

Next to it, there is a pond with carp and lotus flowers that welcomes and listens to everyone leisurely.
If you sit on a white wooden chair in front of the pond and look carefully, you will see a bell pavilion on the left, a Buddhist temple on the right, and a well, shower room, and toilet behind the bamboo fence in front.
After feeding the carp in the pond, stepping on the stone steps, and climbing the stairs to the second floor of the bell pavilion, you will see the four objects of the temple, namely the beopgo, cloud plate, temple bell, and wooden fish, placed in that order.
